mother’s day

in the beginning
there was

darkness,

the waters
above
were seperated
from
the waters
below,

and
as if by
magic

with a
flick of her finger
against
the light switch

there was
light.

most likely
also
yelling
that it was

past time
to get
lazy butts
out

of bed.

every cut
every scrape
every bruise

to a certain extent

mindfully cured
with
expert healing
kisses.

hugs

like the sun
coming out
after
the longest
darkest
night

to banish
the sadness
the fear.

not all heroes wear
capes.

some have been
in the same
stained shirt
for two days
taking care
of an entire tribe
of crazy people

the same
crazy people
she would gladly
consider murdering
some days
or happily
commit murder
to
defend.

in our beginning
there was

darkness.

until her.
