i would love to get
a kitten
but judging by
the state of my life
i am barely able
to keep myself alive

i was going
to get one
before i had decided
that she was important enough
to leave the world
i knew behind

before
she decided
i was not to be part
of the world
she wished
to live in

now i have no cat
no love
no reason to wake
because every decision made
was one based on an us
that isn’t real

one day
i would love to get a cat
when i can figure out
how to
take care of myself
