he wasn’t a diamond in the rough
he was zirconium in the mud
just another piece of colored glass in an avalanche of melted sand
not even costume jewelry
just the bottom of a bottle that missed the trash can
he once aspired to be more
but good intentions can’t shift the crystalline structure of one’s composition
the best of ideals cannot forge good metal from flawed ore
so he went with it
wallowed in the muck like a pig in the sty
he was well aware he wasn’t going to be a diamond in the rough
but he was fine with being zirconium in the mud
I totally get this. I always view myself as covered in mud…. I just never viewed myself as a gem. Beautiful imagery, this.
