my toes will extend into the carpet burrowing down for nutrients as bitter fruit dangles from phalanges no longer lithe

her voice like sharp seeds take root within my ear as my eyeballs solidify into agates reflecting her smile onto passerbys

the calcified remnants of a man turned vociferously deciduous as needles jut from swaying limbs to shower the ground beneath me
