the most
frightening
part of
death
to me
is how
suddenly
it can all
stop.
one minute
you’re miserable
over the most
absurd thing
then you’re dead.
the bubble
pops.
the desperate
desire
for it all
to mean
something
anything
bargaining
with imaginary
deities who
at least in
scripture
don’t even
acknowledge
we existed
at all.
bred to breed
to be useful
finding new ways
to busy ourselves
from the hovering
spectre growing
closer every
wheezing breath.
carnival rides
only last for
a few minutes
because what’s
fun in the moment
becomes tiresome
if it lingers on
for too very long
but there is
a couple seconds
of disappointment
right before it
inevitably
stops.
hope to live
just long enough
to be truly
disappointed.
That is awesome. You captured the feeling accurately.
