relive vs repeat

if you asked me
to make the same mistakes
relive the past
knowing the outcome
i wouldn’t change
a thing
as monumental
as the failures were
i did some amazing things
made love to
beautiful women
laughed in wonderful places
made memories
that pierce the pain
so if you asked me
to do it all over again
i would
in a heartbeat
but if you asked me
to allow the same mistakes
to occur now
i would pass
it is one thing
to relive the past
a different
to allow it to repeat

but i would consider it
briefly

  1. I would go back to get many more hugs! And tell one particular person “Look at me now”!😀 And I would relive over and over again rocking my babies to sleep, and singing lullabies!😊 Wonderful post Mike!

      1. Yes! You still have time to do it better!!☀️” Immaturity is never a crime” oh man, I was a wild young girl! Completely screwed up and took life for granted.

          1. So sweet! Thank you.
I spent time in the waiting room for a friend who had heart surgery last week. It is almost always inevitable that a person will catch something in a hospital. And I got a flu shot(mandatory)at a new job last year…That I was so against. Had not been sick in years!

                1. It’s only just after eleven. The words have been singing again and won’t let me sleep until they tire of me for the night. Besides I was listening to the album anyway. Just as easy to post my favorite off it.

  2. You are braver than me. There is no way in hell I would go back and live my life all again, not even for all the money in the world.

      1. That’s good if you have them! I can’t wrap my head around it personally because there isn’t one moment in life I would want to relive, not even the birth of my children because even then life gave me nothing but loneliness and misery.
