it is in
her eyes
a cold panic
in calculating
increments
a sheet of ice
coating
her sense of self
she sits
at the threshold
of fight and flight
all i can do
is slowly
lower my hands
step back
into the shadows
vanish
from sight
her nostrils
flare
as i
settle down
onto
a pile
of leaves
my musk
hangs
in the stale air
one day
she will kill me
the knowledge
is as ingrained
into me
as water is wet
i don’t relish
the idea
of my own
impending
mortality
but her visage
impedes
rational thought
as it floats
merrily through
my every
waking
thought
at this point
it should be
consideted
a mercy
killing
euthanize
the reflection
of her smile
in my eyes
