loving you from a parking garage in dallas

it is
probably
ten degrees
cooler
in the shadows
of this
concrete
behemoth
off of
main street
in
downtown
dallas

cold chills
from
the trapped
winds
cut through
my hoodie
run fingers
down my spine
as the slabs
shimmy
with every
slow moving
car that
rolls by
staring suspiciously
at me
surrounded
by parts
trying to
reassemble
something
functional
in the midst
of falling
apart.

thoughts
of you
sunshine dappled
kisses
taking away
the throbbing
ache
the band of
razor wire
wrapped around my
cavernous
skull
being far
far away
from anything
but the rapture
of your
embrace
laying in
the grass
watching the clouds
stealing kisses
as the wildflowers
fill the air
as your voice
fills my heart
as my heart
fills the
void.

it is probably
ten degrees
cooler
in the
absemce
of you
the colors
seem
muted
the sounds
are
hushed
and my heart
screams
for you
over the abyss
that
separates
our lips.

spending the day
loving you
from a
parking garage
in dallas.
