different
when i go back
through them
the visceral
reaction remains
unchanged
but the wording
feels foreign
off a degree
the person that
scribbled them
long deceased
standing on
a different
vertical axis
existing in
another time
screaming out
in a different
tense or maybe
an old tension
i get lost
in a haze of
what once was
losing sight
of what really is
candy coating
cyanide pills
melting a hole
in my hand
that threatens to
swallow me
whole
wholesome and
falsely virtuous
a fool
practicing
chivalry
with a cobra
in a sarong
so many line
words plucked
from the aether
only to
return
somewhat
diminshed
