he knew
he was just
embarrassing
himself
giving his
heart and soul
to someone
who had
nothing to
say to him
dodging the
concerned
messages which
asked questions
he couldn’t
answer simply
because he
knew less than
anyone else
all while he
tried to ignore
what was going
on right in
front of his
unbelieving eyes

i shake my head
sadly
watching as he
mimics my movement
flip off
the light switch
and watch as
he vanishes
into the darkness
as if he had
just confessed
his love only
to fade away
just another
sad unlovable
loser trapped
on the wrong side
of the mirror
