half blind
self blind
yet i see
the entirety
of this absurdity
so clearly
it makes me
wonder how it
all hasn’t toppled
a thousand times over
a slave to chemicals
which spill unceremoniously
across this slick
where consciousness
is supposed to reside
we are astronauts
in an atmosphere which
slowly decomposes
the soundtrack of
our mercurial lives
shedding instincts
a prayer for prey
we are no more than
the dogs cowering
from the storm
the original strands
rewritten in domestication
who we were once slowly
bred out until all
that remains is the worst
parts quivering in a
traffic jam of insecurities
clogging the main artery
and suffocating slowly
on the lies we spin
but it sure is pretty
watching the light from
our slowly expanding sun
refract upon pollutants
casting illusions upon
crumbling infrastructures
the dull gleam of micro
plastics choking the sea
like a million man made
catastrophes visible
to the uncaring void
