some people believe
if you hope hard enough
you can manifest anything
your tragic hearts desires
then when faced with proof
they decry the actions
happily willed into existence
as if encouraging violence
will not lead to violence

both sides celebrating
the latest victim
while a willing line of
carbon copy replacements
wait in the wings for

there is never a reason
for someone to be killed
in the halls of learning
not a child, nor a teacher
or even someone who

osama bin laden was a father
as was saddam hussein
so the argument a victim
is not the culmination
of their words and actions
because they had a family
holds as much water as a sieve

all deaths are inherently
senseless acts if not natural causes
statistically speaking
some just have sinister meanings
hidden in false outrage
they want you screaming
at one another because that’s
when the truly heinous acts
occur under the cover of
unnecessary mudslinging
and it doesn’t matter
how many bodies they need
to leave in their wake
as long as they don’t get caught
