case study in frigid fallacy

expecting
a forty degree
temperature drop
from this morning
to tomorrow
as i lay
tangled in
thornyviralvines
flaringandfading
as the rigors
of mortis tease
my anemic frame

phantom smells
dreamshatter lingering
in swollen sinuses
of lilacs on
the warm breeze
a twitching dormouse
with a barn owl burnt
into his fevered brain

mother nature
should be studied as
the ultimate case
of bipolar disorder
with a dash of
borderline
as no other force
feels so familiar
on a cellular level
to slipsliding from
loving embrace to
total annihilation
in the blink of an eye
of being a part of
the global energy
yet remaining haughtily
a part from the world

a living contradiction
desperate for an embrace
yet prickly and aloof
equal parts nurturing
and mindless destruction
as fickle as the breeze
whisperingthroughthetrees
suddenly caught in yet
another terminal spiral
leaving only wreckage
in our thundering wake

just tired
and dreading
the next
inevitable
set back
