the sunlight
breaks around an
iron and glass spire
an eruption in
soothing warmth
misleading
feeling almost
loving
nurturing
which makes each
of my scars tingle
as i remember
how quickly a
mother’s embrace
can go bad
the same diffusion
of golden life
will happily burn
the flesh from bone
fire only knows
the hunger for more
insatiably starving
as bone cracks and
marrow slowly steams
