had i been born
ten years later
there is
a better than average
chance
i would have
never been born
at all
just relegated
to an another
anonymous abortion
but
as luck would have it
that wasn’t
truly
an option then
for two stupid
teens
that let hormones
dictate
the next eighteen years
of miserable
cohabitation
a small
consolation
that it took so long
to begin
to prove the sacrifices
made
were not in vain
as i sit
in the cold parking lot
of a gas station
halfway
between
home and hell
waiting
for the two
that kept me
from becoming
a different statistic
altogether
i wonder
at the mystery
of it all
