she sat on the shell of an extraordinarily large tortoise suspended high above the city
the people smaller than ants beneath her proved to be the source of much laughter
she daydreamed of the simple lives of those so blissfully ignorant to her plight above
the tortoise cared little for the world below and less for his burden and her laughing cries
there was an unspoken agreement betwixt the two that allowed for mutual dismissal
even if the finer details were muddled over the many centuries they spent in one another’s care
the tortoise had it’s ideas which were likely not along the lines of her own pedestrian whimsies
still the tiny people went about their lives the same as the tortoise and the woman that floated above
until the storm struck
