heedless

a hawk landed on the branch in front of my bench staring at me with its head cocked to the side

not knowing what it wanted i just told it about you and asked if it could pass my love along for me

it flew off to be replaced by three fat little squirrels eager to hear the tale of the fool mad with love

they chittered as i spoke and as soon as i finished darted back into the trees to spread the word

now i sit in the airport terminal spilling the same love heedlessly into the aether hoping you hear

surrounded by people yet so very alone with my emotional baggage taking up the seat beside me
