unsheathed
stalking shadows
in the afternoon sun
squirrel on the grass
staring at each
and every noise
with silent trepidation
the planes fly high
above us with loud
rumbling sonic waves
as the busy people
circle impatiently
waiting for one
open runway to settle
among the kittens
and the squirrels
under the watchful eye
of the fool seeking
another meaningless ode.
