brittery

the birds
are excitedly
singing
this morning
a high pitched
squall in
layered
discordant
notes
fingernails
down a
chalkboard
as everything
feels brittle
to a sleep
addled fool

the rumble of
circling planes
halts the
choir of
fluffy little
former dinosaurs
with hollow bones
flitting about
on the porch
railing as
they taunt me
while i sit
reading pessoa
with darting
shadows in my
periphery
little hints
foreshadowing
the invisible
demons hovering

i am just a
semiautonomous
electrical
generator as
the voltage
passes through
the strands of
copper coiled
in my chest
the magnetic
fields radiating
magnifying
until i thrum
with untold
gigawatts of
pulsing madness

brittle in
this jittery
state of flux
a miswired
circuit board
made of meat
marinated in
faulty chemicals
and connected
to an overloaded
junction box
shorting out
in a sleepy
confusion of
misremembered
painblossoms
