no one wants
to talk about
the elephant
in the room

mostly for fear
of startling it
i assume

yet they show
no such compulsion
when at the zoo

i once read
elephants think
humans are cute
so i doubt they
would mind much
if we occasionally
acknowledged them
if in fact there is
one in the room
seems rude otherwise
