Sing to Me, sophomoric at best prose

sing your pain to me, whisper it directly into my heart and I will accompany you

our disparate rhythms finding a meeting point in sorrow

give me your ghosts and I will give you mine

burn the place to the ground together and dance on the ashes of the ones we left behind

laugh at the ones we were in the before, cry for the ones we have become in the now

sing your pain to me, scream it directly into my soul and I will accompany you

we will spin and laugh and let the beat take us somewhere else

somewhere maybe none of this even happened and we were not scarred and broken

a place where the whiskey and smoke take it all away and leave us warm and happy

hold me close and I won’t let you fall, anything for you my closest friend

sing your pain to me, pound it into my chest and I will accompany you

let’s close this place down, bellowing along badly to the juke box

singing the wrong words and somehow finding all the wrong keys

laughing at the misery that burns a hole into our chests and sharing our scars

another shot and step outside for a hit, anything to keep up a brave facade

sing me your pain, whisper it softly with your eyes into mine and I will accompany you

just sing it to me and I promise you won’t be alone, we will sing together until they kick us out

and then we can stumble away, our song filling the night swaying along to a song only we can hear

sing to me
