the sunlight is broken into bitter rays of blinding heat thrust forth by an angry sun that seeks to fry the world into shriveled strips of blackened waste
a jilted lover staring down from the clouds
all winter long the cries for her embrace were lamented by shivering masses yearning to be warm
yet as she casts her embrace all she is met with is more cries for relief
left to insufferable complaints she becomes less the tender mother now cast as the vengeful whore of broken dream
haunted by summer’s kiss in the cusp of autumn colors
the cycle ends as the next begins anew to be met by more disingenuous murmurings
the ghost of season past cradled in the coffin of love’s last breath
