far from prying eyes

i have never seen a gigantic squid but that doesn’t stop me from dreaming about the hunter in the inky black

i have never ran my fingers through the rings of saturn but i can feel the icy drift on my fingertips in the quiet

so many illusions, delusions, intrusions, a mass confusion in a life of destitution devoid of grasping unto dream

yet between moments of chaos and terror there lies a sublime waveform that drifts the shackles of reality away

there is why my quiet heart lies beating on a bed of rusted nails as life and hope sizzle on the white coals beneath it all

and in the darkness the squid swims laconically amidst the frozen vapor of saturn far from prying eyes of disbelief
