a continuing series of ever increasing oddities, part XXVI

it began to rain blood
just as everyone adjusted
to the now flooded
city

it was first noticed
by a woman
who was out for a jog
in the park

a man sat
in the warm mist
of the beginning
of torrential downpours

he was as yet unaware
as he leaned back
to view
the eye in the sky

all the jogger saw
was a man dripping blood
with his head lolling back
on a bench

she began to run faster
then saw the blood
on her own clothing
and ran faster still

it was a vicious spiral
of terror and adrenaline
that caused her heart
to burst

she was just
the first
even if no one
really noticed at the time

later they find
the blood was all
o positive
as it clotted everywhere
