as empty as every line

i give you
every ounce of
my agony
share
every bit of
my love
let you swim
unencumbered
through my
infinite sorrow

i ask for
nothing
in return

but you
insist
on more

anything that
isn’t left to
steam
on the concrete
under
the dusk skies
is hidden away
with a
lavender bow
for her

there is
nothing
to see here
no one
to be
this broken
sex doll
with an
overabundance of
vernacular
failings
is less than
the sum of
his every
fruitless
endeavor

just an
ugly stain on
poetic longing
as empty as
every line
misread
