dallas to okc

the moon makes us
translucent
the sun reflects
our fears
the stars are naught
but astronauts
desperate to come
home

the clouds let
lazy fingers
drift across
the barren land
a storm
far enough away
that it appears
like silk
dragged along
the brush covered
plain

the buildings on
the side of
the highway have
a temporary sort
of permanence
they are strikingly
out of place
among the paint bare
buidings
sandblasted by the
howling winds

and the moon above
the cerulean lies
makes our thoughts
translucent
as the sun reflects
our fears
the stars will keep
our secrets
the wind will seal
our lips
and i shall send
every ounce
of my love
down the i35 corridor
from dallas
to your perfect heart
