the vain
and the arrogant
parade about
preening
their feathers
in a tragic display
puffed up
on self importance
they blather
constantly trying
to sell a bill of goods
that does not exist
a fallible armor
magnifying flaws
thinking them hidden
while lost in
their own reflection
believing themselves impervious
tissue paper egos
soaked through
with alligator tears
offering little
yet considering
themselves invaluable
as we sit
in silent judgment
the anxious
and the unseen
admiring the act
while seeing through it
