daylight
is no longer
a commodity
to be saved
as morning
rises lazily
leaving a fool
in golden effusion
half blind driving
through confusion
off kilter as this
autumnal intrusion
harvest hues spin
an impeccable delusion
the spirits ferry
misfortune through
the waning penumbra
between life and death
ever more apparent in
the slow demise of summer
