exquisite

she sat pensively, i knew the moment i saw her that i would do anything for her if she would ask it, the sun didn’t shine upon her but framed her exquisiteness, and all the words in my head fell onto the floor with my jaw, my heart skipped three of four beats when she smiled, i forgot how to breathe, ceased basic functions, how do you tell her that you are madly in love with her when you can’t remember how to speak, your tongue becomes wooden and all you have are splinters in your lips

my face burned neon red and the only thing i could say was purple, she looked confused, my favorite color was purple

she smiled and said, was, questioningly

until i saw you it was my favorite thing to see, now i can’t remember what it looks like but i know it doesn’t look half as pretty as you

she blushed and her eyebrow raised slightly, is that a pick up line she asked

no, no it is not, it is the truth, and that’s the only type of line i could ever use on you, if it isn’t heartfelt how can i expect you to hold my heart in your hands

you’re offering me your heart, already, she asked

and i just stared at her, i believe it was yours the second you took your first breath i just didn’t know where to send it, wherever i was on your birthday i bet i blew a sigh of relief as the world settled around me and a calm overtook me knowing somewhere you existed

bet you say that to all the ladies she smiled

the words never occurred to me until just now, in fact had they ever popped into my head before this exact moment i would have laughed at the idiocy of them, they would have been meaningless grunts, tongue clicks and noise, but now they are the only truth in a world of lies, i’m sorry for spilling them at your feet, i’ll be going

and i burned her face into my mind, every inch of perfection and erected a cathedral in my heart to stand and worship her in, for i knew then, at that exact moment none could ever stand next to her, i swore an oath unbidden to be her holy man, the street preacher in the sandwich board screaming i have seen true beauty and it was her

that’s all you have to say, now you’re going to run away she asked

ma’am, i would ask of you to give me your today and promise you all of my tomorrows, and when tomorrow becomes today we can reavow ourselves into perpetuity an endless cycle of days in which i give myself to you until the sun burns out or longer, however you see fit

and she smiled at me and i was done
