“Alkaline Trio – Clavicle” and tanka

so many thoughts fly
none of them fill me like you
like this bottle here
i’m empty and discarded
headed for the bin outside

nothing fills me up
it all just leaks down my face
what a fucking waste
another vessel ignored
left to be broken again

open another
let the liquid slosh about
and pen more poems
falling down and fall apart
drunk off of the lack of more

still feel dead inside
filling the void anyway
doesn’t make much sense
drinking until i’m dried out dreaming of kissing your lips

  1. Mike, I’m a huge music buff! So, if I may say… Reading your poetry is often like a trip down ‘Fascination Street’ (The Cure) to ‘psychosomatic attic insane’…The Prodigy…Breathe.
And then there is your softest voice of poetry… Clare de Lune.

    So much talent!

    1. Well the hallowed Clare de Lune has never been uttered here before. And personally, and I love The Prodigy. Sadly I am not the biggest fan of The Cure but it is impossible not to respect their music as well. When it comes to Goth I was more on the line of TSOL and Siouxsie Sioux. Might be a bit of a music buff myself. Hahaha.

And as always your kind words mean the world to me.

      1. …these of course we’re just songs that come to mind as background music when reading your work. I appreciate music of all genre’s.Can’t imagine our world without music! Or writings of great talents such as yourself! You words orbit around a black whole as I wish for a last sentence of a safe landing. You never fail as a writer to keep it interesting…even while a reader or two may be reading with hand over eyes between two fingers! 😁

          1. It is art! Preference. Raising Son’s, I stayed on top of all the music.
Never be afraid of ‘the ugly’ ever…that to me…is where true beauty waits to be discovered? You already know this! …The very reason I appreciate ‘the unfavorable truth that may cause some people to cringe,in which you write so effortlessly! Facing our own truths is so astonishing. Yet rewarding in the end? Don’t burn out Mike! Roar up those engines and burn rubber into the core of social stigmas! And come to a purr at your final word!😁
