you shine so brightly, a flickering flame in the darkness of the world

i dance in shadow, drawn to the fires that will surely burn me to ash

a moth to your flame, a human projectile destined to explode with your touch

can’t you hear my begging, open a window and let me dart about the air around you

let me bask in you, even if my time is fleeting, allow me this small chance

take all of me, add me to the bonfire of your radiance, let me fuel your divine grace

and when i sputter out, sweep me away, knowing that i did all that i could for you

for you are everything, and i am lucky to exist in a world where you are the center

i love you, you are more than aware, though the essence of it remains hidden

that is okay, for the moon shall always love the sun from the shadow of the earth

as the oceans love the moon, but only get to hold it’s reflection, like your’s in my eye

and your light flickers and casts shadows for me to dance within, you shine so brightly
