the hills (pt I)
the hills
are not gently rolling
as much
as haphazardly clinging
for all they are worth
which would be more
if they had deposits
of precious minerals
hidden within
she was one such hill
the latter
rather than
the former
haphazardly clinging
unbeknownst to any
she was
far more preciously laden
than the rest
the rabbit (pt II)
he was born
in the year of the rabbit
except
for a twitchy nose
the resemblance
was passing
at best
basin (pt III)
she was lying
on the patchy grass
of the too warm winter day
staring up
at the dark clouds
pondering rain
the sky is a basin
and the earth is a stone
together
they hum out a fancy tune
she sang softly to herself
a bit of nonsense
to wile away the time
where he pisses against a tree in silence (pt IV)
this post left blank intentionally
first meeting (pt V)
he went for a stroll
to clear his twitchy head
listening to music
watching the sky
unhappy
on this too warm winter day
he didn’t even see her leg
as he tripped over it
and
took a tumble
rolling down
the rolling hill
his arms flailing
his umbrella flying
first glance (pt VI)
she stared at him
frozen in place
unsure of his twitchy face
but deciding
he was remarkably rabbit like
not in appearance
but in spirit
he stared back
thinking
she looked
precious indeed
umbrella (pt VII)
the sky
chose that moment
to open
and
let loose a squalling piss
of its own
he casually opened his umbrella
and
offered her his hand
together
they huddled beneath
and
made their way
back to their cars
This is brilliant!

my goodness Mike. Is there anything you can’t do?? You are an incredible poet.

now i don’t know if that is true or not, but you always have a way of finding the ones i like. it seemed fun to try and experiment with parts. part four is my favorite.

it was the inspiration for the rest. a long way to go for such a small thing. i originally posted then separate. part of the experiment i guess. i am playing with the idea of pop up poems that have a short shelf life and then vanish. little wisps of words that fade away. i would like to write one that disappears as it is read.

The only issue is…. well I very often read through a poem 3-6 times. And sometimes revisit (though not often lately). So that vanishing poem would disappear from my brain…. and I don’t like that at all.
