it is the words
they love
the need
may be laid
upon you
for a time
but that fades

don’t
let the words
convince you
there is more
hidden beneath
there isn’t
what lies beneath
is the cold
darkness
from which
the words
are drawn
that is all
just a frozen
boiling kettle
of black misery

i only
fall in love
with poets
ones
that will never
love me
back
that keeps
the love pure
unsullied
by reciprocation
it is easier
to wallow alone
in the dark
than to face
the nothing
alone
in the light

  1. It made me think if I have ever put an ad out on dating site, I should really put ‘the writer is an irresponsible creature, catch her if you can.’…..yes yes I am just having random thoughts after reading all the comments 😂

  2. How incredibly sad (but true).
    I love how flippant the tone is, with just that hint of something darker and meaningful within.
    But then again, maybe that’s just me convincing myself that there’s ‘more beholden to the silence.’
    Us writers and our romanticism.
    We’ll never learn.
