the power in
someone putting
themselves
into the focus
of someone else’s
words
being able
to wish
for those phrases
to highlight
the things
within themselves
they wish to see
means one
of two things
the words hold
power
or
the reader
holds their own
sense of self
too high
i have never
seen myself
reflected
in the lines
i read
but can still
fall in love
with the spaces
between
words
maybe
my sense of self
is anemic
withered
on the vine
of childhood
dreams
but when i
write about
love and joy
i write with
Her
firmly pressed
into the center
of my mind
and i
have made it clear
to Her
that she is
the she
so she never
has to question
that my definition
of love
is her name
written in cursive
on the tip
of my tongue
coloring the world
in her
fathomless
brown eyes
there is
a power
in being the focus
to a poet’s quill
as it scratches
bloody trails
along your skin
leaving
angry red letters
that scream
a silent love
somewhere
out there
someone
loves you
like i love
Her
you just have
to let
your heart
guide you
across the minefields
of uncertainty
Interesting thoughts here Mike.
