beacon

i kneel in
supplication
as the flames
of self immolation
reduce this shell
to greasy smoke
ash blowing in
the hot texas wind
just another flash
of stinging grit
in the unblinking
gaze of forevers
a roadmap of
broken promises
and faulty math
from years spent
seeking answers to
questions only
fools would ask
as the blue fire
races across my
naked form
a smile cracks the
blackened flesh
aware i made a poor
human but as a beacon
i light up the sky
if only momentarily
shining brightly
to expose the
meaning of everything
a dark patch etched
into the soil
a sign of surrender
to the emotions
warring within
